Privacy Policy & GDPR

Last updated: 8 July 2026

We collect the minimum personal data needed to plan your trip, we never sell it, and you can ask us at any time what we hold about you. This policy explains the detail, including your rights under the EU/UK GDPR and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA). The data controller is Anant Bharata Travels Private Limited, trading as Anant Bharata.

1. What we collect

What you give us: your name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, travel preferences (destinations, dates, party size, pace, budget band) and anything you write in enquiry forms or chat. If you book: details needed for reservations — passport information, nationality, date of birth, dietary or medical notes you choose to share. Automatically: standard analytics data (pages visited, device type, approximate location from IP) if analytics cookies are active.

2. How we use it

We use your data to: respond to enquiries and design itineraries (performance of a contract / taking steps at your request); make bookings with hotels, transport and local partners (performance of a contract); send you your quotation, travel documents and trip support messages (performance of a contract); improve the website and our marketing (legitimate interest / consent for analytics cookies); and send occasional news only if you subscribed (consent — unsubscribe anytime). We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use automated decision-making.

3. WhatsApp & communications

Much of our service runs on WhatsApp because it is what travelling guests prefer. Messages you exchange with us on WhatsApp are subject to WhatsApp's own terms and encryption; the trip details we extract from them are handled under this policy.

4. Cookies & analytics

The site uses only what it needs to function, plus optional analytics (Google Analytics 4 and Meta Pixel) to understand which pages help travellers most. Analytics data is aggregated and never used to identify you personally. Your browser's settings and opt-outs (e.g. blocking third-party cookies) are respected. The journey wishlist is stored locally in your own browser (localStorage) and never leaves your device.

5. Who we share data with

Only what is necessary, only to deliver your trip or run our website: travel suppliers (hotels, airlines, local operators in the countries you visit) receive the details they need to hold your booking; service providers we use to operate — website hosting (Vercel), email and spreadsheets for lead management (Google), and WhatsApp for messaging — process data on our behalf. We require partners to protect your data and use it only for the stated purpose. We may disclose data where required by law.

6. International transfers

We are based in India and your data is primarily processed here. By the nature of multi-country travel, booking details are shared with suppliers in the countries on your itinerary (e.g. Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives). Our web and email providers may store data in other jurisdictions under their own compliance frameworks (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. How long we keep it

Enquiry data that doesn't become a booking is kept for up to 24 months so we can pick up the conversation where you left it, then deleted. Booking records are kept as long as required for legal, tax and accounting purposes, then deleted or anonymised. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time (see your rights below).

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to: access the data we hold about you; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to processing; export it (portability); and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise any right, email hello@anantbharata.com — we respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA/UK you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority; in India, to the Data Protection Board under the DPDPA.

9. Security

Data is held in access-controlled accounts with two-factor authentication, shared only with the people who need it to serve you. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

10. Children

Our services are booked by adults. We collect children's details (e.g. ages, passport details for a family booking) only from a parent or guardian, and only to make the family's travel arrangements.

11. Changes & contact

We may update this policy as our services or the law evolve; the date above shows the current version. Questions, requests or concerns: hello@anantbharata.com.
